AKKI-CHAN is made to be worn while chasing the sun. A slow resort brand that upcycles antique 100% silk kimonos.

Like kintsugi—the art of mending broken objects with gold—we turn once-lost garments into golden, one-of-a-kind aloha shirts.

Aloha shirts originally used kimono fabric!

In the 1930s, a Honolulu shop called Musa-Shiya the Shirtmaker began cutting Japanese prints into what became the iconic Hawaiian shirt.

So in a way, we’re returning to the ROOTS!—blending heritage with heart.

At AKKI-CHAN, we transform what was once a family heirloom into something new—something we hope becomes your family heirloom!

Only one shirt per kimono—each piece is truly unique.

Handmade in Japan.

- $580

Cut from a Showa-era komon kimono (1960s–70s) once worn for strolls through town and quiet daily life.
Its soft, mossy palette swirls with an abstract karakusa — a vine motif symbolizing resilience, regeneration, and quiet strength.

A-2025-20

- $580

Made from a Showa-era shibori kimono (1960s–70s) — a textile defined by its labor-intensive tie-dye process, where each section is bound, dyed, and released by hand. This one bursts in leafy green with oversized, cloudlike florals outlined in classic kanoko (fawn spot) shibori.

Made from a vintage komon kimono, this shirt bursts with layered pattern play.
Multicolored seigaiha (ocean wave) arcs ripple across the fabric — a motif of harmony, joy, and endless good luck — while a dotted kanoko (fawn spot) print adds texture and rhythm below. Originally worn as casual chic in the Showa era.
